Hello Music Together by the Bay Families!
We all hope you are having a wonderful Summer and getting out to enjoy the sunshine with your family! That said, fall is just around the corner - we can hardly believe it! - and that means its time to register for fall classes!
This fall we are excited to be offering an afternoon class! This will be held on Wednesdays at 4:00 pm, as well as two different time slots on Friday mornings, one at 9 am and one at 10 am. Our classes will continue to be held at Bellingham Music's Annex Building located on the corner of E. Champion and Forest st. We are now able to hold classes in their community music space in the back of their building. This means lots of space to move, dance, sing and explore with your child!
For those of you who have taken classes with us in the past you know the value of making music with your young children, creating musical community with other like-minded families, and taking on the role of being their first music teacher regardless of prior musical experience. Those of you who have not yet had the chance to be a part of our musical family just showing an interest in getting involved is a huge step! We'd like to take the time to share a little about Music Together's philosophy, and why we believe signing up for classes with us is a wonderful thing to do for you and your child!
ALL CHILDREN ARE BORN TO BE MUSICAL. Music is our birthright. We are all born with a music aptitude or the potential for music making. Music achievement is what we are able to do with that potential. You may have heard a very popular word for this achievement, TALENT. Talent is simply a fancy word for rich music aptitude, and varies depending on environmental exposure. Just as with something like math, some brains are wired for more ease in learning numerical equations, and for others, even if taught by the same instructor, it might take a bit longer, but can still be successfully achieved! Learning to sing songs in tune and keeping a beat are teachable and learned achievements. An innate or born predisposition for musical ability is nothing without experiences in very early life that realize that potential. By exposing children to a diverse musical environment full of different tonalities and rhythmic meters, and modeling our enjoyment of experimenting with non-formal instruction and play, we are nourishing our child’s musical birthright.
Thank you for taking an interest in our class and the chance to nourish musical development in your child! If you would like to try one of our classes for free, demo classes will be taking place the week of September 9th, with one class held on Wednesday the 11th and a second held on Friday the 13th. Our full 10 week session will begin the following week.
Sign up here for one or both! We hope to see you in class this Fall!
